World Trade Organisation
The world trade organisation comes up with trade agreements amongst countries.
The last agreement stated that Africa’s land would be used for agriculture and the products would be exported everywhere especially the USA.
The USA did not agree to sign on the agreement as the agricultural lobby in the US is a strong one and the US would rather rely on its own production.
However currently the USA holds one of the world’s highest rates in obesity and this is because the price of big macs is much cheaper than the price of fruits and legumes.
Should the USA agree to exporting fruits and vegetables from Africa there will be a surplus in those products and there will be a much bigger supply of healthy fruit elements thus their prices will drop lower.
As the USA would be increasing its supply of fruits and vegetables their prices will drop so that the majority of people would be able to afford healthier options on a daily basis.
This will not only help Africa in developing it's trade but will provide healthier options to the rest of the world.
Economically the USA doesn't have to give up on its agricultural sector however can divest it into niche market of products not imported or simply switch plantations into local versus foreign niche markets.
GATT is the main agreement signed under the WTO, it ensures exports are treated fairly in every country. Members signed the GATT stating that they will treat imports fairly so subsequently their exports would be treated fairly in other countries.
The role of the WTO is very important in the world as it regulates trade between countries and creates unified laws to create trade equity.
If I was to come up with a law, I would say every country should hold intellectual property from the rest of the world so a huge intellectual exchange must be created in terms of movies, books, paintings, art. No country should be allowed to deprive citizens from any education and there should be a law regulating that. The intellect.
