Corporations in Politiques
Do all corporations go downtown? And what do they impact?
In 1970 corporations started lobbying in Washington to prevent labor and anti industry negative government laws. Today big corporations lobby and hire lobbyist in the political capital of the world to impact the laws in a manner which would allow them to outperform competition and succeed at their short term and long term objectives.
Huge corporations today have capitals more than entire countries’ budgeting and capital. Petrol China's capital is 1150 billion USD compared to 47.5 billion USD as the GDP of the Lebanese Republic, a sovereign state with more than 5 million citizens. These numbers show the relativity between the size and power of corporations and the size and power of entire countries not to mention the multinationals who operate in many countries and hire millions of international employees that have power to affect interest rates and rates of unemployment and employment laws in the country they operate in overnight.
Today, some corporations’ capital combined reach many trillions of dollars and they are stateless such as HSBC and Microsoft. They are called stateless and metanational operating in more than 50 countries with budgets surpassing 10 countries’ budgets combined. Going borderless and stateless have never been easier than with those growing corporations that know no boundary and operate where it best fit their interests.
It is now the multinationals and the borderless corporations who are running the global politics and affecting countries currency rates and tax laws as well as interest rates and not local politicians who do not have even the same amount in budget as multinationals to work with in the country. Can politics be separated from business or business be separated from politics? I hardly doubt that.
